GARNER, NC – Police say they have arrested a man they say was responsible for a crash that killed a 69-year-old woman last month.
Javier Orlando Alvarez-Lopez, 22, has been charged with driving while impaired, felony death by motor vehicle, and failing to comply with license restrictions.
Police say Alvarez-Lopez was driving a BMW sedan that collided with a Cadillac SUV at the intersection of White Oak Road and Timber Drive East at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.
The driver of the SUV, Brenda Culbreth of Garner, was taken to WakeMed Raleigh, where she died.
Alvarez-Lopez and his two passengers, Jose FranciscoTorres, 23, and Agustin Alejo Pascual, 21, were seriously injured but survived.
All three live in Wake County.
Alvarez-Lopez is being held in the Wake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
