Drunken ‘DREAMER’ Killed 73-Year-Old Man On Bicycle In Arizona

TUCSON, AZ (KVOA) – The Tucson Police Department has identified the victim and suspect in Thursday’s hit-and-run incident on ‘A Mountain.’

Police say 20-year-old Yanibra Moreno was driving a silver 2002 Lexus GS300 when she hit 73-year-old Richard E. Ellwanger, who was riding a bike Thursday morning.

Ellwanger died approximately two hours after being transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Moreno was booked into Pima County Jail and faces one count of second-degree murder, one count of leaving the scene of a collision causing serious injury or death, and three counts of endangerment.

According to officials, Moreno was driving the wrong way down a one-way road at the time of the collision.

Mr. Ellwanger was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Police say the vehicle struck the cyclist head-on, causing him to be thrown from his bicycle and into a ditch on the side of the roadway.

Moreno did not stop and continued down the wrong direction, hitting another two victims, an adult male and female pedestrian, causing minor injuries to both, police say.

The Lexus continued down the road after hitting the two other pedestrians and eventually crashed into several large boulders. The driver and male passenger exited the vehicle and started to walk away, however, witnesses were able to stop them and wait for police.

Police say both speed and impairment were factors in the collision.

Moreno was placed on a $100,000 bond and her next court date was scheduled for Oct. 22.
