Mexican Cocaine Dealer Caught In Oklahoma

HEALDTON, OK (The Daily Ardmoreite) – Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant says an investigation that began with citizen tips ended early Friday with a search warrant served at a Lincoln Street residence that yielded drugs and stolen property and led to the arrest of a Mexican illegal immigrant.

Bryant said Luis Daniel Lara-Reyes was arrested without incident after officers executed the warrant. The 36-year-old was booked into the Carter County Detention Center pending the filing of formal charges in Carter County District Court.

However, while formal charges are expected to be filed against Lara-Reyes Monday, Bryant said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement immediately pegged him.

“As soon as he was entered into the data system, I.C.E. placed a deportation hold on him,” the sheriff said Friday, a short time after the raid had been completed.

Bryant credited citizen tips with launching the investigation that led to the Mexican national’s arrest.

“We had received information concerning suspicious activity at that house. Those tips led to an investigation, which in turn resulted in sufficient evidence to allow us to secure the search warrant,” Bryant said. “Carter County deputies, OBN agents, Ardmore Police Department narcotics officers and Healdton police a carried out the raid at 1335 Lincoln St., identified as Lara-Reyes residence.“

Recovered as a result of the search warrant was 1/2 gram of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and what was estimated at more than $1,500 in stolen property.

Lara-Reyes could make an initial appearance in Carter County District Court as early as Monday afternoon. The man’s arrest marks the 10th person facing illegal narcotics charges as a result of probes carried out by the CCSD and cooperating agencies this month.

“We are continuing to knock on the doors of those involved in the illegal drug trade. These results show the significant progress made through the regeneration of cooperation between this department, OBN and APD narcotics,” Bryant said.
