IREDELL COUNTY, NC (The Hickory Record) – The Statesville Police Department said it has charged a South Carolina man with taking indecent liberties with a child nearly five years after the offense allegedly occurred.
Lorenzo Bautista Perez, 29, was apprehended Monday, according to an arrest report.
Police say Perez sexually assaulted a family member. That non-immediate family member reported the incident to police in October 2014 when she was 13, according to Capt. Brian Johnson, supervisor of the criminal investigations division.
The assault occurred about two years before she reported it, the victim said during interviews at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center.
Warrants for Perez’s arrest were taken out by SPD in November 2014. Perez, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, was served his warrants by an Iredell deputy on Monday.
He was charged with attempted first-degree rape and taking indecent liberties with a child. Both are felonies.
He was detained at the Iredell County Detention Center under a $400,000 secured bond.
