Illegal Alien Ran Over Two Children Climbing Aboard School Bus in North Carolina

On the morning of Oct. 2, Wilson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Marcos Santiago-Bautista, 27, after he reportedly ran over two children, ages 5 and 10, as they were boarding a school bus on Rock Ridge Sims Road. The two victims are brother and sister, and attend Rock Ridge Elementary School in Wilson County.

The two children were left lying in the road, as Santiago-Bautista fled from the scene in his Ford Explorer. The vehicle was later found parked behind a tobacco barn, about a mile from the scene, according to court documents.

WNEM reported, Lt. Jeff Gordon of the North Carolina Highway as saying:

Based on witnesses at the scene, the bus was stopped, the lights were on and that vehicle continued on and unfortunately those two kids were struck. The children were transported to Wake Med with several broken bones, and are currently listed in serious condition. Their mother took the two to the bus stop and witnessed her children being struck by the SUV.

Santiago-Bautista has been charged with felony hit and run, felony passing a stopped school bus,driving without a license, no vehicle registration, driving without insurance and fictitious tags. He is currently being held at the Wilson County Jail on an ICE detainer.

The suspect speaks only Spanish and an interpreter was required during his questioning.
