On Wednesday, police in Azusa arrested Victor Carnio Martinez, 48, after he reportedly sexuallyabused a 10-year-old girl on multiple occasions. He is acquainted with the victim’s family, which is how he gained access to the girl, according to police.
Two days before his arrest, Martinez took the girl with him to get some food, instead, he drove her to a secluded location behind a shopping center, where she was raped.
In a statement, Azusa Police spokesman Mike Bires, said:
Suspect Martinez and the victim were in his vehicle on Monday evening when he drove to the rear of a local shopping center. While in the vehicle, in a secluded area, Martinezsexually abused the child while she pleaded with him to stop. During the incident, Martinez threatened to harm the child and her family if she screamed, yelled for help, or told anyone about what he was doing to her. After nearly one hour, Martinez returned the victim to her mother, and once again threatened to harm the child and her family if she told anyone what had happened.
The victim reported the harrowing incident to her parents, who called police. She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated, and a rape kit was performed. It was then that the family learned that Martinez had been abusing the girl on a continuous basis, according to prosecutors.
Martinez has been charged with sexual intercourse or sodomy with child 10 years old or younger;sodomy by use of force with the victim under age 14; sexual penetration by foreign object; sodomy of person under 14 with 10 years difference; dissuading a witness from reporting a crime; and lewd act upon a child. He is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles on an ICE detainer.
