RALEIGH, NC (The News & Observer) – A man was charged with felony assault Tuesday on a woman who was taken to WakeMed Hospital in critical condition with skull fractures and brain swelling after an apparent dispute behind a Poole Road shopping center, police said.
Luis Miranda, 50, who lives on Rawls Drive in Raleigh, was charged Tuesday night after police had taken him into custody about 5:15 p.m. at the shopping center, records showed.
Police had been called to the rear of the shopping center, which has a Food Lion grocery and small shops near the corner of Williams Road.
They found Sierra Coats with “swelling to her brain and skull fractures,” according to an arrest warrant charging Miranda with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Coats was reported to be in critical condition Wednesday.
